The objective of this paper was to analyze the relationship between professional football and its legal, ethical, and regulatory responsibilities in Ecuador and internationally. The methodology focused on exploring the tensions between FIFA regulations and national laws, such as the Organic Code of Sport, identifying legal loopholes, irregularities, and ethical challenges in the registration, transfer, and management of players and clubs. Key findings highlighted issues in international transfers, the violation of the labor rights of players, especially minors, and the complex relationship between clubs, agents, and federations. Cases such as Byron Castillo (nationality and eligibility) and José Angulo (doping) illustrated structural flaws and the need for greater protection for athletes. Despite advances such as the LigaPro, challenges persist in transfer supervision, the protection of minors, and the prevention of crimes such as document falsification and tax evasion. The commodification of players' economic rights perpetuated inequalities. In conclusion, Ecuadorian football reflects global problems. The creation of a specific regulatory chapter in the Organic Code of Sport and the strengthening of ethical mechanisms were proposed. Club oversight, the use of technology to audit transfers, strict regulation of agents, and the comprehensive protection of minor players were recommended. The need for political will, ethical commitment, and legislative strengthening for a more equitable and transparent system was emphasized.
