Focus and Scope

Portal de la Ciencia is an international, peer-reviewed scientific journal dedicated to publishing high-quality original research, systematic reviews, and theoretical and methodological contributions across multidisciplinary fields of knowledge. It is published quarterly (January–March, April–June, July–September, and October–December), ensuring content availability from the start of each editorial period. The journal's mission is to disseminate research findings from Ecuador and the international scientific community, promoting the generation, circulation, and transfer of knowledge with global impact. To this end, it welcomes contributions in diverse areas, including education, law, sociology, political science, economics, administration, communication, psychology, cultural studies, public management, environmental science, and interdisciplinary research that bridges the social sciences with other fields of knowledge. The journal prioritizes original works that demonstrate methodological rigor, theoretical soundness, scientific innovation, and social relevance, contributing to the critical analysis and solution of contemporary problems in local, regional, and international contexts. The journal is established as a space for academic dialogue that fosters interdisciplinarity, critical reflection, and global scientific cooperation. In accordance with international best practices in scientific publishing, Portal de la Ciencia adheres to the principles and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), guaranteeing academic integrity, editorial transparency, and the ethical management of manuscripts. All articles undergo double-blind peer review, using similarity detection tools to prevent plagiarism and ensure the originality of contributions. Furthermore, the journal promotes open science standards, encouraging the use of persistent identifiers such as DOIs for published articles and ORCIDs for author identification, as well as the availability of research data when appropriate. Portal de la Ciencia is an open access journal, which publishes its contents under Creative Commons licenses, guaranteeing accessibility, international visibility and unrestricted dissemination of scientific knowledge.
