Portal de la Ciencia publishes all its articles under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0), with the purpose of facilitating the dissemination, consultation, distribution, and responsible reuse of scientific knowledge while fully respecting copyright.

This license applies to articles and other content published by the journal for which the authors and the journal hold the necessary rights to distribute such content under this licensing model.

Creative Commons License

The contents published by Portal de la Ciencia may be used, shared, and adapted in accordance with the terms established by the following license:

This license allows anyone to:

1. Attribution (BY)

Copyright

Authors retain copyright and ownership of their works. Publication of an article in Portal de la Ciencia does not constitute a transfer of ownership or intellectual property rights to the journal.

Authors grant the journal a non-exclusive right to publish, reproduce, communicate, distribute, and disseminate their work through its editorial platform, digital preservation systems, repositories, databases, indexes, and other channels intended for scholarly dissemination.

Accordingly, authors retain the right to reuse, share, and deposit their works through other media or repositories, in accordance with the terms of the license and applicable copyright provisions.

Repository Deposit and Dissemination

Authors may deposit and share the published version of their articles in institutional repositories, subject repositories, academic networks, and other scholarly dissemination platforms, provided that:

Appropriate credit is given to the authors.
The original publication in Portal de la Ciencia is properly cited.
The DOI or permanent link to the article is included, where applicable.
The CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license is identified.
The terms and conditions established by the license are respected.

The journal encourages the deposit and dissemination of its publications in open-access repositories as a means of increasing the visibility and accessibility of scientific research.

Third-Party Materials

The CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license does not automatically apply to materials included in articles that belong to third parties and are subject to copyright or other restrictions.

Authors are responsible for properly identifying third-party content that requires specific authorization or is subject to different terms of use.

Users wishing to reuse third-party materials must verify the applicable terms of use and, where necessary, obtain authorization from the relevant rights holder.

Use of Published Articles

Access to, reading, and downloading of articles published by Portal de la Ciencia are free of charge. Prior authorization from the journal is not required for actions expressly permitted under the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license.

Actions not permitted by the license require the appropriate authorization from the relevant rights holders.

The journal does not claim exclusive rights over the published works and recognizes that authors retain ownership of their copyright.
