Abstract

The third issue of the first volume of Tribunal de Justicia, Journal of Legal Research, corresponding to the year 2024, brings together research focused on analyzing the main challenges facing criminal law and criminal policy in a context characterized by globalization, technological transformation, and the increasing complexity of crime. The published works examine phenomena related to transnational organized crime, economic criminal law, procedural guarantees, punitive populism, the crisis of prison systems, and the contemporary expansion of criminal law. Taken together, these contributions demonstrate the need to strengthen criminal policies based on constitutional principles, international human rights standards, and scientific evidence. They also promote critical reflection on the balance between public safety, crime prevention, effective judicial protection, and respect for fundamental freedoms, providing relevant elements for academic development, public policy formulation, and the improvement of criminal justice systems.
