The objective of this article is to analyze the various possibilities and strategies that have recently been proposed in the literature to promote the development of critical thinking through the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in educational settings. To this end, a literature review is proposed, including articles published between 2020 and 2025, to recognize how AI can promote critical thinking through personalized interaction, access to multiple sources of information, immediate feedback, and the stimulation of metacognitive skills, as long as it is meaningfully integrated into the classroom through appropriate planning and continuous assessment processes. The results show that AI can contribute to the development of critical thinking if teachers are well supported and continuous spaces for reflection and debate are generated that allow students to critically evaluate the information generated by AI and to construct visions and knowledge that integrate their personal experiences and experiences with the data generated by technology in their particular processes of modeling reality.
