Diversification of Ecuador's goods exports. Have there been any changes?

This research aims to analyze the diversification of Ecuadorian exports and their contribution to the country's economic growth in the period 2000-2021. The descriptive study with a quantitative approach aims to analyze the importance of export diversification with emphasis on the identification of the most relevant products that affect economic growth in the years between 2000 and 2021; for which the analytical-synthetic and statistical methods were used. The data was taken from the statistical information and indicators issued by the Central Bank of Ecuador. Among the main results, it is observed that in these two decades of analysis there was a slight variation in the destination country of Ecuadorian exports and in the volume of traditional agroexports. However, there was no significant variation in the set of exportable goods, possibly due to factors such as poor public policy to promote exports and low investment in research, innovation and technology by the State and the exporting business sector. In the short and medium term, export volumes show little dynamic change in relation to prices, evidencing a loss of productive capacity.
