Tariff barriers in Ecuadorian foreign trade: comparative analysis of trade relations with MERCOSUR (2010-2023)

This study analyzes how tariff barriers have affected Ecuador's foreign trade with MERCOSUR countries between 2010 and 2023. A quantitative approach and a non-experimental longitudinal design were used to conduct a descriptive statistical analysis of exports and imports. The results show that, although exports have grown, imports have increased even more. The study concludes that Ecuador has not fully benefited from the advantages of Agreement No. 59 due to a lack of diversification in its productive sector.
