Uso de cocaína e seus efeitos no sistema nervoso

O presente estudo tem como objetivo analisar os efeitos do consumo de cocaína no sistema nervoso central (SNC), focando no seu impacto na neurotransmissão e nas estruturas cerebrais. Foi utilizada metodologia de revisão bibliográfica exaustiva, baseada em bases de dados científicas como PubMed, Scopus e SciELO, priorizando estudos dos últimos cinco anos. As principais descobertas indicam que a cocaína bloqueia a recaptação de neurotransmissores essenciais como a dopamina, a serotonina e a noradrenalina, gerando hiperativação neuronal associada à dependência, ao comprometimento cognitivo e à neurotoxicidade. Os resultados mostram que o consumo crónico afeta o córtex pré-frontal, o hipocampo e o sistema límbico, aumentando o risco de doenças psiquiátricas e neurodegenerativas, bem como de complicações cardiovasculares. Como aplicações, o estudo destaca a necessidade de intervenções terapêuticas multidisciplinares, incluindo abordagens farmacológicas e reabilitação cognitiva. Conclui-se que a cocaína tem um impacto multissistêmico que requer estratégias de prevenção e tratamento mais eficazes, bem como maior investimento em pesquisas neurocientíficas para mitigar seus efeitos na saúde pública.
