A música como ferramenta para o desenvolvimento intelectual infantil: uma revisão da literatura

O objetivo deste artigo foi analisar as evidências científicas sobre os benefícios da música para o desenvolvimento intelectual infantil. Para tal, foi realizada uma revisão sistemática da literatura científica em bases de dados como a PubMed, Scopus e Web of Science, utilizando termos-chave relacionados com a música e o desenvolvimento cognitivo. Foram incluídos estudos empíricos que investigaram a relação entre a música e diversas áreas do desenvolvimento cognitivo infantil. Entre os achados, a música tem um impacto positivo em diversas áreas do desenvolvimento cognitivo infantil. Está associada a melhorias na linguagem (consciência fonológica, vocabulário, compreensão verbal), memória (a curto e longo prazo), atenção e concentração, funções executivas (planeamento, organização, resolução de problemas), competências viso-espaciais e inteligência emocional. Além disso, observou-se que a música melhora o desempenho académico em matemática, leitura, escrita e outras áreas. Concluindo, a música surge como uma poderosa ferramenta para o desenvolvimento intelectual infantil. Recomenda-se o incentivo à participação musical desde cedo e a integração da música de forma mais sistemática na educação e na terapia.
