This study examines smartphone usage among Generation Z in Ecuador, focusing on the patterns of mobile technology use and their relationship with sociodemographic variables. It highlights that Generation Z, having grown up in a digital environment, heavily relies on smartphones and the Internet for various daily activities. Data from the 2023 National Survey of Employment, Unemployment, and Underemployment (ENEMDU) was utilized, filtering and analyzing a sample of 5,486 individuals aged between 12 and 27 who own a mobile phone. The study shows universal use of the Internet and social networks among Generation Z, while specific functions such as email, GPS, and videoconferencing exhibit variations according to demographic factors. This research provides insights into the technological adoption behaviors of young Ecuadorians, underscoring the need for targeted strategies to improve digital literacy and responsible technology use. These findings are relevant for policymakers and educators aiming to bridge the digital divide and tailor interventions to the unique needs of Generation Z in Ecuador.
