This review article aims to highlight the importance of using rehabilitation robots in improving the quality of life of people undergoing functional recovery processes. A comprehensive review of the scientific and technical literature available in specialized databases was conducted, complemented by the authors' experience in the field of rehabilitation robotics. The review highlights the potential of rehabilitation robots to provide effective, accessible and personalized therapies. These devices do not seek to replace therapists, but rather to assist them, allowing for increased care capacity and reduced treatment times. Significant advances were identified in the design of adaptable robots, the integration of artificial intelligence technologies and the implementation of feedback systems to improve the effectiveness of rehabilitation. It is concluded that rehabilitation robotics represents a valuable tool to improve the quality of life of people undergoing functional recovery processes. Despite existing challenges, such as lack of investment in research and dependence on foreign technologies, academic interest and collaboration between institutions suggest a promising future for the development and implementation of these technologies.
