Abstract

This research proposes an econometric model aimed at estimating and understanding water consumption in car wash establishments in the upper part of the city of Piñas, El Oro Province, during the year 2025. This study focuses on identifying the quantitative and qualitative variables that explain the variability in the use of this resource, providing an analytical tool for the vehicle washing sector from an economic perspective. The ultimate goal is to quantify a robust predictive model, as there are no studies of this nature in the province. A set of explanatory variables selected for their explanation of the liters of water used are considered, including the number of operational ramps in each car wash as an indicator of its installed capacity. as well as vehicle size, service price, type of wash, and extras used by the customer, factors that together define the characteristics of the demand for the service and its consequent water requirement for operation. The results indicate that the price of the service increases consumption to 65.13 liters per monetary unit, providing a robust analytical tool.
